One of the very first projects developed by Luke, this innovative and award-winning music game casts you a musician, tasked with travelling the city and recording sounds to take home and mix into your own tune.
One of the few games to allow the player to not only play music but create their own, Break in the Road went on to win awards at SXSW, BIMA, Cineme, Mando and Europrix.
With imaginative and stylised use of rotoscoping, the game has a style unlike any other. We filmed real actors in a blue screen studio and spent many months hand animating each frame to achieve the final result. Every background was hand drawn, with textures produced with woodblock printing, creating an energetic and human feel to the city, perfect for the nature of spontaneous creativity we wanted to encourage.
